I had accumulated so many part used canisters over the years. I’ll be honest I like to take a full canister at the start of longer trips so had a box full of canisters build up over time that had residual gas in.
This is where the Fuel Saver comes in. You can combine multiple part used canisters so that you can recycle the empties. Another option is to buy bigger canisters which are cheaper and then fill up your small ones. So you will not have to buy gas less frequently and no more wasting part used canisters.
I loved the windows on this device which meant I could see for myself that the fuel transfer was working. Reassuring to be able to check if it had finished without having to keep unscrewing the canisters.
The FlipFuel has become popular recently but the Fuel Saver transfer device allows you to check on the transfer through the viewing windows and for a much better price than the FlipFuel.
It’s important not to overfill the canister that you are transferring into. In reality, that is really hard to do but I would recommend checking the weights of the canister when new and make a note of the Gross weight (combined weight of the canister and fuel). When you refill it in the future you will not want to exceed this weight. Many brands will state a gross weight and net weight of the fuel contents making this easier.
Before you start, put the recipient canister (the one you are filling) in the freezer or a fridge for 30+ minutes and the donor canister somewhere warm. Then following the markings on the Fuel Saver, attach the warm canister on the top (marked OUT) and the cold one on the bottom (you guessed it IN). Then you are ready to transfer.
