Our Verdict
Mountain Equipment's Frontier Hooded Jacket is a heavy weight, protective soft shell jacket that is ideal as a year-round, mixed conditions outer layer that works well in all but the most persistent downpours. It provides enough warmth from the durable Exolite 210 fabric which also provides loads of protection from the wind and light showers. Designed for active mountain use the fit, features and materials are ideal for rugged and technical environments.
With harness compatible pockets and zip, easily adjustable hood, loads of stretch and an active fit this is a great piece for bitter days at altitude. The external chest pocket is quite small and isn't going to fit some of the newest phones but the other pockets make up for this. The Frontier is also a little on the heavier side considering a lack of any insulation.
