The Direkt uses an EXOLITE XP stretch soft shell outer fabric to maximise water resistance without inhibiting dexterity or breathability. A reflective scrim and a hybrid of pile and microfleece ensure these gloves are warm enough for the coldest climes and dextrous enough for hard leads.
Our Verdict
The Mountain Equipment Direkt Gloves are designed around a stretch soft-shell outer with a water-resistant leather palm, giving an excellent mix of grip and protection for technical climbing or mountaineering. At 131 g (Medium), they feel compact and agile, with a pre-curved fit that reduces fatigue during sustained use. The combination of microfleece and pile linings keeps warmth steady without adding bulk, and breathability remains good during active movement.
Wind and light snow are handled well, though for prolonged wet or deep cold conditions, a waterproof outer shell may be needed. Stitching and reinforcement feel durable, and the close cuff and wrist adjustment provide a secure, stable fit.
For climbers or alpinists who prioritise dexterity and tactile control, the Direkt Gloves strike a well-judged balance between protection, warmth and precision.
