Our Verdict
OMM's 2023 Classic 18 Rucksack has been redesigned for those with a smaller frame, it still balances durability and weight surprisingly well. The updated fabrics on this version are clearly a lot more hard-wearing and easily stand up to the challenges of the mountains. Despite being a fairly simple, stripped-back design, this pack has some great features. The 18L capacity is ideal for ultralight overnight trips and generally as a day pack for all seasons.
There are really good-sized hip belt pockets, a big secure lid pocket, side and rear stretch-mesh pockets and OMM's UGR (universal gear rail) for adding all manner of extra kit to the pack externally. The hip belts are removable if you're trying to shed weight, as is the foam Duomat insert, which I leave behind more often than not, as I'll never use it for sleeping on!
