Our Verdict
The Causeway 28L isn’t an outdoor pack in the traditional sense. It’s built for commuting, travel, and day-to-day use, with features that prioritise organisation, weather resistance, and clean aesthetics over technical trail performance. While it borrows materials and build quality from the outdoor world, its design suits trains, airports, and office commutes more than ridge walks or summit pushes.
The pack combines clean lines with technical materials that hold up well across a range of uses. At 987g, it feels robust without being heavy, and the TPU-coated recycled fabric is clearly built to last. The shape sits close to the back and carries well, supported by dense foam shoulder straps and a padded panel that gives enough structure without feeling stiff.
Organisation is thoughtful. The main compartment features a top-loading design with a broad opening, while a separate side zip provides quick access to the padded laptop sleeve. Internal dividers and mesh pockets help keep kit organised, and the lid and side pockets securely hold smaller items. The sternum strap adds stability, and the luggage pass-through panel allows the pack to slot cleanly over a suitcase handle.
Ventilation is adequate but not intended for high-output use. The focus is on durability and day-long comfort in urban or travel settings.
