Traditional Norwegian dish. Beef, carrot, rutabaga and potato. Suitable for the whole family, mildly seasoned. Based on potatoes. Gluten- and lactose free.

We put our pride in collecting the best ingredients from our arctic surroundings. Every REAL meal is made by our skilful team of chefs. Our unique drying process removes only the water from the original dish. This secures you a nutritious lightweight meal - easy to prepare, without removing a grain of the rich flavour.

Preparation: Tear off the top of the bag at the indentation. Add warm water (3,9 dl) up to the level marker. Stir well, close the bag using the ziplock and let the dish rest for 8 minutes.

Our Verdict

Real Turmat has designed a wide range of meals that are tasty, light-weight and aimed at everyone and for any kind of outdoor activity. With a good balance of weight, calories and taste the range has been very popular. The range uses a unique drying process that removes only the water from the original dish. This secures a nutritious and lightweight meal – really easy to prepare without removing any of the flavour.

There are also the 'Field Meal' range which are designed for a balanced diet, developed for personnel in challenging situations. They generally have more calories included to help replace those used on longer or more challenging adventures.

STAFF'S TASTE TEST - 557 kcals, it says 390ml hot water – thought I’d measured it out OK, 8-minute soak, the potato had the consistency of apple sauce so I didn’t know if I’d put too much water in, also I discovered I hadn’t stirred it very well because there were some dry bits still at the sides. I stirred it a bit more and left it for another four minutes. Tasted absolutely gorgeous, beef tasted like beef, potato tasted like potato, it was just really lovely 9/10 for taste alone. The odd bit of beef not reconstituted but that could have been my fault, I’m ignoring it anyway.
