Expedition Foods says
Looking for a hearty, familiar meal? Beef and Potato Hotpot will take you back to your mum's cooking with minced beef, potatoes and fresh vegetables including lentils, carrots and onions, sprinkled with parsley and chives. Whether you are walking The Highland Way or scaling Sgurr Alasdair in the Cuillins, your effort will be rewarded with a perfect meal to replenish your energy reserves.
Preparation: REMOVE THE OXYGEN ABSORBER* (Sachet) from inside the pouch. Slowly add up to 435ml hot water, stirring as you pour and then close the bag. Wait 5-8 minutes for the food to re-hydrate.
Cold water will suffice in an emergency, however the re-hydration time is much longer.
*The oxygen absorber helps maintain product freshness and is non toxic.
Expedition Foods meals have a long shelf life of up to 5 years.

STAFF'S TASTE TEST - Calorie count for Expedition Foods is around the 450mark, just below most others which are typically 550-600calories. If you don’t normally have a starter try a cup-a-soup with crackers to boost the meal. I added 260ml boiling water and resealed the bag – left it wrapped in a down jacket for the full time specified. First mouthful was a bit bland so added salt to taste. Much better. All had rehydrated, there was only slight meaty taste to it – veg was dominated by swede, would have preferred more onion – which you could add as a fresh ingredient, with that it might be a 7, but as it is I only give it 6/10. |
