The Women’s VR Summit Jacket is an advanced winter softshell designed to balance moisture control on the move with warmth and protection when static. Underpinned by two years of laboratory research and applied mountain testing, the new Vapour-Rise™ system combines a fast-wicking brushed polyester lining with a highly breathable Pertex® Quantum Air shell. By moving moisture away from the body and managing it in a controlled thermoregulation zone between the inner and outer layers, it keeps you warm and dry, however hard you work. With the versatility to replace what would traditionally be several separate garments, it features a helmet-compatible hood, a pair of harness-friendly handwarmer pockets, an adjustable hem and cuffs and a YKK VISLON® double-ended zip for an easy belay.

Our Verdict
Rab's Womens VR Summit is by far the thickest and warmest jacket in the VR range. With more features it is versatile enough to be used as a mid layer in winter or as an outer layer in cooler conditions. The use of VR Warm to line the jacket provides a decent amount of warmth with the technical ability to quickly and effectively wick moisture and help regulate temperature to an impressive level. No matter how hard you're going this jacket will perform brilliantly to keep you comfortable.
The Pertex Quantum Air fabric used on the outer provides exceptional breathability without sacrificing protection from the wind and rain, with the addition of a good DWR coating. The VR Summit uses Velcro tabs to create an adjustable hood and cuffs making this much more of an outer layer, rather than mid. Two good sized hand warmer pockets also set this apart from the other VR jackets in the series.
