UOG TOP PICK: Updated with recycled fabrics, recycled down, and zoned micro and nano baffle stitch-through construction, this classic down jacket is lightweight and packable and provides instant warmth when the temperature drops in the mountains. It is a Top Pick.
Rab says
The Infinity Microlight stays true to its original purpose, an insulated jacket for year-round mountain use, but with the added wind and weather resistance of GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ WINDSTOPPER®. This outer fabric is super lightweight with impressive weather protection, coping with light snow, spin drift and moisture. It is exceptionally breathable and soft to the touch, offering a quiet and comfortable hooded down jacket for all mountain activities.
Built with zoned micro and nano baffles, the 700FP P.U.R.E recycled down has been body mapped to optimise warmth and breathability where you need it. Suitable for hiking, scrambling, and climbing adventures, it has a slim, active fit and a warm, helmet compatible, down filled hood with a stiffened peak for complete protection. It has elasticated cuffs for a seamless fit with gloves, a full length, durable front zip, a concealed chest pocket and two hand pockets, with YKK® zips throughout. Highly compressible, the Infinity Microlight can be packed down easily and can be stashed in your pack to be pulled out when the temperature drops.
Our Verdict
Rab's Infinity Microlight Down Jacket is the next iteration of the most iconic Rab jacket, when you think of a Rab jacket, the Microlight is the first one that springs to mind, You've either owned one or know someone who owns one.
The addition of the Gore-Tex Infinium material on the outer makes this jacket windproof, more weather resistant and warmer than ever before. The new baffle construction reduces the cold spots that previously plagued the old Microlights.
The only downside of this jacket is the cuffs, Rab have implemented some form of these elasticated cuffs on their new range and they are simply awful to wear. The area behind the cuff is 4-5x bigger than the hand opening leading to this mass of material behind your hand that looks and feels strange. If Rab can figure out a good cuff system, this jacket would be a best in class jacket.
