It’s built with recycled materials throughout, including a reinforced 100%-recycled base made from triple ripstop RAPTOR CROSS 210D Nylon. Further protection comes from a PFC-Free DWR coating to keep your equipment dry.
This lightweight but rugged backpack has a pre-curved, aluminium frame to stabilise heavier loads, and is hydration bladder compatible. It’s packed with easy-to-access storage options, including a large mesh zipped front pocket and mesh side pockets, and the modular Montane T-Hook system adapts to your individual needs, for easy storage of walking poles, spare layers and more.
There’s easy access to the main compartment using the side zips, for quickly stashing layers, while the wrap-around waist pockets and shoulder pockets accommodate hydration, food and accessories.

Our Verdict
The Montane Trailblazer 44 is a well-designed and sustainably-constructed backpack ideal for overnight hiking and fastpacking adventures. Built from durable recycled nylon with a reinforced ripstop base, it offers rugged protection while reducing environmental impact. The aluminium frame provides stability for heavier loads.
This pack excels in versatility, with ample storage options that are easily accessible on the move. The large zipped front pocket, mesh side pockets and Montane's modular T-Hook system The customisable T-Hook system securely attaches items like trekking poles. Unfortunately, you only get two T-hooks; two more would have been welcome. They are a little stiff at first and take some manoeuvring.
Comfort is a strength, with a pre-curved, moulded back panel, shaped shoulder straps and an adjustable suspension system that hugs the pack close to your body. Handy features include a hydration bladder sleeve, secure chest straps, wraparound hip pockets and shoulder pockets for bottles and snacks.
Whether wild camping, fastpacking or cragging, the lightweight yet ruggedly constructed Trailblazer 44 from Montane is an excellent sustainable pack choice for overnight mountain adventures requiring a balance of load support and on-trail accessibility.
