Our Verdict
Hyperlite Mountain Gear’s Stuff Pack 30 focuses on function over features. At 125g and 30 litres, it swallows layers, food and water, then folds down to pocket size when empty. The roll-top closure and Dyneema Composite Fabric keep contents dry in foul weather, and the single-compartment layout makes loading fast. It is an excellent companion on multi-day routes where you set up camp, then decant the essentials for a quick summit push or a resupply run.
Comfort is good with light, well-shaped loads; it is happiest around 4 to 5 kg. With no frame or hip belt, careful packing matters to avoid hard points on the back over longer distances. The shoulder straps are supportive but straightforward for the intended use, and the plain exterior avoids snagging. Durability is strong for the weight, though regular bushwhacking will mark it more quickly than a structured daypack. There are no stretch water bottle pockets, which I would like to see for easier on-the-move hydration. It also doubles neatly as a waterproof stuff sack.
