The SplitWing vestibule is an addition to the SplitWing tarp that increases the space inside the shelter, which creates an ample, enclosed space that protects you and your gear from the wind and rain.

Our Verdict
Adding a vestibule to the SplitWing tarp fully encloses the tarp giving you protection from the elements in all directions. The vestibule increases the liveable space inside the tarp, you, of course, have the additional space created by the vestibule at the entrance of the shelter, but you also gain space inside the tarp as the gear that was in the shelter has now moved into the vestibule, this dramatically improves the liveable space inside the shelter, it’s hard to give an exact number (as the hight of your trekking pole gives a degree of variation), but approximately an additional eight sq. ft are gained adding the vestibule.
The vestibule is incredibly easy to attach to the tarp; simply insert the trekking pole into the “trekking pole pocket” and set up the tarp as standard; the vestibule doesn’t require additional pegs; instead, it clips onto the tarps wings, simple. Either side of the vestibule can then be rolled away to enter the shelter; a small clip can then be attached to close the door.
If you are already using the SplitWing tarp, this addition is so light that, on fine days, you can forgo the vestibule, but it’s a good plan always to carry in case you are caught in a downpour or high winds.
