Our Verdict
The Extremities Spectre GTX Gloves provide solid weather protection and comfort for hiking and general winter mountain use. At around 161 g (Medium), they feel substantial without being cumbersome, combining a Gore-Tex liner with a stretch outer fabric and reinforced leather palm for dependable grip and durability. The fit is neat and close, offering good dexterity for handling poles, tools or maps, though those with broader hands may find them snug.
The insulation is moderate, making them ideal for active movement in cold, wet weather rather than for static conditions. Touchscreen-compatible fingertips work as intended, suitable for light navigation and the occasional photograph. The cuff closure seals in warmth and is easy to adjust one-handed, rounding out a well-executed design. They perform best where breathability, waterproofing and dexterity are more critical than maximum loft or expedition-level insulation. A dependable, all-round winter glove that’s built to last.
