A well-finished, functional softshell built for varied conditions and steady movement through the hills.
Berghaus says:
This lightweight packable softshell jacket delivers great wind resistance and breathability.
Keep moving in comfort, with a snug hood for extra protection when needed and pockets that work with a pack, so you can always reach your stuff easily. And when you don’t need to wear it, the Ridge-Roamer Lite packs away into its own chest pocket for easy storage.
Our Verdict
Comfortable and wind-resistant, the Ridge-Roamer Lite is a solid choice at 457g (Medium). This softshell feels robust enough for extended wear without being overbuilt. The double-weave fabric strikes a good balance: breathable enough for steady movement but still capable of shedding wind across open ground. The hood adjusts easily and stays in place without fuss, while the two raised hand pockets remain usable under a hip belt. I found the fit trim but accommodating, with just enough room for a light layer underneath. The chest pocket is ideal for quick-access essentials, and the fact that it packs into itself makes it a handy backup when conditions are mixed.
