Our Verdict
The R2 TechFace Jacket from Patagonia is a high performance fleece with a soft feel inner and harder, durable outer. The Regulator fleece is soft and comfortable to wear while doing what it should by regulating body heat. The durable face fabric does a good job of shedding light rain and providing some wind resistance. The grid effect is not to everyone's taste in terms of feel and looks but it works really well.
This Jacket has two hand warmer pockets and an external chest pocket all with zips. This is not a lightweight piece but the performance, features and warmth of it make the jacket a great choice for hiking, climbing andother mountain activities in cold conditions.

- High-loft double-weave fabric is soft and warm next to skin but doesn’t trap heat; the durable outer is treated with a PFC-free DWR finish (durable water repellent coating that does not contain perfluorinated chemicals) to shed moisture
- Soft kissing-welt zipper garage at chin for next-to-skin comfort
- Left-chest pocket and two high hand warmer pockets have cleanly finished zipper garages and are harness- and pack-compatible
- Two interior drop-in pockets; sleek, low-bulk, snag-resistant cuffs
