Light, protective, waterproof trousers designed for fast movement and reliable weather protection in the hills.
Mountain Equipment says:
Lightweight and well fitting full-zip waterproof trousers for trekking in remote locations.
With our Active fit and articulated knees these are shell pants that won’t hold you back. Our 2.5 layer DRILITE® 50D fabric gives reassuring waterproof performance combined with low pack size and full length zips that make for easy access over boots as the storm rolls in.
Our Verdict
The Active fit, articulated knees and gusseted crotch allow unrestricted movement, while the full-length two-way side zips make them easy to pull on over boots when the weather changes. I would have liked an additional zip pull, as this would allow for easier heat venting during higher-output movement.
Breathability is good for their class, with the fabric managing internal moisture effectively during steady effort. The material feels substantial enough for regular trekking, though I’d avoid prolonged bushwhacking or scrambling. The elasticated waistband and adjustable hems make for a neat, secure fit that layers comfortably over walking trousers.
These are well-judged waterproofs for hiking or backpacking where weight and packability matter, offering dependable protection and mobility without unnecessary bulk.
