Our Verdict
The Kryos Down Jacket combines 234 g (Medium) of 800 fill-power goose down with a hybrid baffle layout that maximises loft in core areas while maintaining mobility. At 664 g (Medium), it delivers exceptional warmth for demanding alpine or winter conditions. The Drilite Loft shell is completely windproof and highly weather-resistant, offering reliable protection in exposed environments without feeling overly rigid.
Fit is well judged, with enough room for layering but a close enough cut to maintain efficiency. The hood features a hook-and-loop volume tab but no crown cinch. Two-face adjustments can be used while fully zipped, which deserves recognition but, I feel, should be standard. The hem adjusts cleanly from either side. The elasticated cuffs sit slightly higher on the wrist, allowing the down to extend past them for improved warmth, sealing out wind effectively, and working well with gloves.
Inside are two large dump pockets for gloves or maps, which I always look for in a winter insulation piece. Build quality is exactly what you expect from Mountain Equipment: precise stitching, solid materials, and long-term reliability for serious mountain use.
