Lifestraw says

Our Verdict

This is a perfect water treatment for groups of 2-3 hikers, its manufactured by a Switzerland-based public health company called Vestergaard, it uses a filter to get rid of 99.999% of Viruses, bacteria, and Protozoa.

It’s very simple to use, the large 5L bag is essentially a stuff sack, find some flowing water and simply scoop the bag into the water, then roll it down, like you would with a stuff sack. Find a branch that will take the weight of the bag and hoist it up using the straps provided.  Then simply attach the filter and let gravity do its thing.  It is by no means a fast flowrate, a 1-liter bottle will take about 5-7 minutes. so when you wish to fill up on water, it’s also probably a good time to take a break.  So we have a few pros and cons depending on what you are using this for.  Ultra runners and fast-paced solo hikers will have no use for this as it’s far too slow and would be much better off looking at the BeFree Water Filtration System which you can find here. However that doesn’t remove viruses, unlike the Mission 5L, hear in the UK that’s not much of a problem, but if you are planning a trip abroad or you are going with a group of people who don’t mind a slower pace, then the mission 5 could be the filter for you.
