Our classic lightweight down jacket has been updated. With a fresh design aesthetic and recycled construction, the highly packable Microlight Alpine Jacket is the go-to system for rapid warmth when the temperature drops.
The redesigned Microlight Alpine Jacket takes the versatile, easy-pack insulation of the established classic and dials in some intelligent new upgrades. It features a combination of zoned micro and nano baffles to increase core warmth without inflating weight or bulk - and the jacket’s ethical credentials are now equally sound. With 30D Pertex® Quantum ripstop nylon, as well as GRS-certified, 700 fill power P.U.R.E recycled hydrophobic down, the Microlight Alpine Jacket now features fully recycled shell, insulation and lining. Practical and user-friendly, both as an everyday jacket and as a mountain layer, additional features include three harness-compatible pockets and a down-filled hood with stiffened peak.

Our Verdict
Rab's Microlight Alpine Down Jacket has been updated with a combination of zoned. micro and nano stitch-through baffles. This creates a minimal, uncluttered design that make it a perfect layering piece for alpine climbers, or an adaptable stand-alone jacket for day to day use. The down fill easily compresses within the lightweight outer fabric . There's no excuses for not taking this versatile jacket everywhere with you - safe in the knowledge that you have a warm layer when you need it.
The Microlight range of down garments are designed to replace a heavy fleece, providing similar levels of warmth for about 40% less weight. The narrow baffles and high quality down ensures it has awesome insulation value for its weight. This jacket has an low weight and has been updated with a fantastic array of recycled materials it to keep you warm. 153g of 700 fill power Hydrophobic European Goose down is from recycled sources while the durable 30D Pertex Quantum outer is also recycled. The green credentials of the new Microlight series is great to see but also performs just as well, if not better in our opinion, as past versions.
