Our Verdict
Outdoor Research's Meteor Mitts feel like tough winter mitts that could stand up to any conditions from the moment you put them on. They are waterproof, breathable and have a great amount of insulation.
The Ventia waterproof shell is reliable and hard wearing and the mitts have added grip to the palm and fingers to make them more usable. The mitts have a toggle to tighten it around the forearm and a strap across the wrist. The thumb loop on the back of the fingers and removable leash makes them much easier to pull on and off.
The fleece liners are actually considerably thick mitts with the finger and thumb sections having fully convertible ends to allow smart phone use and increase dexterity. They are held in place with magnets while the liners are secured within the gloves with two Velcro strips. The thickness of these gloves makes them feel chunky and cumbersome if you are trying to do anything fiddly in them so bear that in mind.
