Ilma Hood Fleece Jacket will occupy the niche of light fleece in your wardrobe, so you gotta take it! You will appreciate fleece in the city, on hikes and on city trips. In addition to being used for active movement, a fleece jacket is always appropriate to take with you on a plane or bus "just in case", because it is extremely compact when folded.
The concept of "the lightest fleece in the world", which takes up a minimum of space in a backpack and does not duplicate a thin down jacket as insulation, came to the team in 2017. Then we saw it in Polartec Alpha insulation material and sewed the first sample that was tested by Turbat creative director Marian Striltsiv on a trip to the highest and most mountainous road in the world - the Karakoram highway, from China to Pakistan. After this test, it became clear that the Alpha is light, but not compact enough or windproof enough without a top layer of clothing. Then we changed the material to Polartec PowerGrid and refined the design.
Our Verdict
The Turbat Ilma Hood Fleece is a streamlined mid-layer that balances insulation, breathability and packability. Made from recycled Polartec Power Grid Odour Resist fabric, it manages moisture well and feels comfortable against the skin. The grid structure regulates temperature effectively during steady movement.
At 242g (Medium), it is a lightweight fleece with a close, anatomical fit that works well under a shell. I found the Large slightly snug through the torso and arms, so those between sizes may prefer to size up. The stretch provides good mobility, and the flat seams keep bulk to a minimum.
The hood has an outer wind-blocking fabric that adds comfort without impacting breathability. Thumb holes are a welcome addition, helping keep the sleeves in place when reaching or stretching, and the single zipped pocket handles small essentials.
For hiking, climbing or travel, the Ilma Hood offers reliable warmth and comfort in a compact, year-round layering piece.
