A classic layout, rebuilt for a more livable space in rougher three-season use

The Outside: The symmetrical tent design means you can set up the Hubba faster than you thought possible, perfect when you want to get inside and get dry as fast as possible. Durable and light DAC poles, a heavy-duty PFAS-free water-repellent coating and taped seams keep the Hubba stable and dry. The rainfly features large vestibules for storing any gear you don’t want inside. Easy in-and-out vestibule doors feature StayDry™ rain gutters to catch any drips, while updated kickstand vents add more airflow. Extra guy lines are included to let you customize your setup and add even more stability if the wind kicks up. Premium metal corner hardware is easy to use and super durable; eight included Mini-Groundhog™ stakes are strong and lightweight.
The Inside: The interior is a roomy 32 sq. feet (2.95 sq. m) with no taper to accommodate modern rectangular sleeping pads, plenty of room to relax and wait out the elements. The tent body is mostly solid nylon fabric for maximum weather protection, with just enough solution-dyed micromesh for breathability and bug protection. Durable, no-curve tent doors feature zippers that are easy to use with one hand. They also zip closed to a single point, so you always know where to open the door, even in the dark. Tech-friendly pockets feature cable ports at the corners for headphones and charging cords. Large overhead gear loft pockets are perfect for headlamps, sunglasses and other quick-access items, and an included clothesline lets you dry out damp clothes.

Our Verdict
The Hubba Hubba name carries real heritage in the world of backpacking. For years, it has stood out as a quick-pitching, liveable two-door dome that prioritises usable space for two people. That design has not changed much over the years, which is why the newly released Hubba Hubba HD and LT are worthy of attention. MSR has kept the familiar footprint and ease of use, but the HD has raised weather protection to a noticeable level.
Set up remains straightforward, the symmetrical structure makes attaching the fly straightforward, and the interior is properly rectangular rather than tapered. The 2.95 sq m floor works well with two wide sleeping pads laid side by side, without overlap or compromise. The impressive pocket layout is new to the current Hubba Hubba generation and shared with the LT, with the HD adding two extra pockets. The result is storage that feels intuitive with easy-to-access pockets for headtorches, phones and small essentials. As someone who wears glasses and relies on medication I need close at hand, I really appreciate this, but it also keeps the tent well organised, a place for everything, and everything in its place.
Both the HD and LT are new additions to the range and share the same core architecture: identical floor shape, dual doors and vestibules, DAC poles and a strong emphasis on livability. Where the HD defines itself is in its material choices. The inner tent relies far more on solid, wind-resistant fabric, with mesh used sparingly. Ventilation is still present, but the priority is clearly on reducing draughts and retaining warmth when conditions are unsettled.
Weather resistance is the most obvious step forward. The fly is rated to 3000 mm, and the floor to 6000 mm, providing reassurance for prolonged rain and saturated ground. That extra protection brings the total weight to 1610g, excluding pegs and bags, which feels well judged for a tent aimed at tougher three-season use.
Extra guy out-points are included and can be added where needed, allowing the structure to be tuned for windier conditions. Taken as a whole, the Hubba Hubba HD stays true to the long-established Hubba Hubba formula, but shifts its focus firmly towards durability and protection without sacrificing the layout that made the name so well regarded.
