Designed for ultimate stability and durability in all conditions, the simple Axial hub pole structure assembles as a single piece and includes a brow pole to increase the internal volume for more comfortable camping. The TXS stability system uses high tensile internal guylines arranged in a unique X shape that tension under deformation, producing an incredibly stable structure, even when pitched against prevailing winds. The Radon can be further stabilised by inserting a walking pole into the brow pole sleeve for confidence in even the harshest of conditions.
The Radon pitches inner first allowing you to remove the flysheet to maximise airflow on warmer nights. The flysheet attaches with easy-to-use camming clips that allow for quick pitching and easy adjustment with a lower overall flysheet height that helps keep the elements at bay and prevents splashback in harsh weather. Our Verdict
Vango's F10 Radon UL 1 tent provides an impressively lightweight yet robust shelter for solo backpackers all seasons. Weighing 1260g (2.8 lbs), this semi-freestanding one-person tent punches well above its weight class regarding livability and durability.
The key is Vango's unified Axial hub pole design, which increases interior volume without adding excess weight. A brow pole expands the headroom even further. Despite the ultralight materials, the TXS stability system with internal guylines creates an incredibly sturdy pitched structure, allowing you to dial in the tension from within the tent.
I love the large ceiling-to-bathtub doors on the inner tent; they quickly stuff away into the dual-purpose door pockets. The ability to add trekking poles to support the tent is a new trend I've now seen in a few tents; any additional support is always welcome. Whilst this isn't a dedicated four-season tent, I'd be comfortable camping in the tent in most conditions.
Useful features include pitching inner-first for warm-weather camping, lower fly venting, a dry entry vestibule, and reflective guy-out points. The 15D Silicone silicone-reinforced nylon waterproof bathtub floor provides robust protection.
