Rab's entry into the traditional backpacking market with the Exion 48 represents a shift from their previous ultralight focus, aligning more closely with offerings from brands like Osprey and Gregory. Weighing 1,485 grams (for the medium/large size), this 48-litre rucksack is designed for multi-day treks and overnight trips, where comfort and functionality take precedence over the minimalism of an ultralight pack.
The V-TRAX hook-and-loop adjustable back system allows for a tailored fit, effectively transferring the load onto the hips for better weight distribution. The wraparound harness construction ensures full contact around the waist, enhancing overall stability and comfort. With a thick, plush lumbar pad and a well-cushioned hip belt, the Exion 48 provides ample padding, reducing pressure points and improving long-term comfort on the trail.
A standout feature of the Exion 48 is its U-shaped front zip, allowing easy access to the main compartment without having to remove the lid or rummage through your pack—perfect for quickly grabbing a wayward glove or stashed layer.
