| PFC Free | | 'PFC' chemicals are used in garments to make them waterproof and stain resistant but they leach into the environment and stay there for years, there's some evidence that they can cause harm to reproductive cycles. Manufacturers are looking at alternative ways of making fabric waterproof thus generating the term 'PFC Free' |
| Dope Dyed Fabrics | | Also known as Solution Dyed Fabrics. Process reduces energy consumption by 80% and water use by 50% compared to traditional dyeing methods. Solution dyed fabric is highly resistant to UV fade and the fabrics are more uniform in colour. |
| RDS | | The Responsible Down Standard aims to ensure that down and feathers come from animals that have not been subjected to an unnecessary harm. It is an independent, voluntary global standard, which means that companies can choose to certify their products to the RDS, even if there is no legislation requiring them to do so. It is estimated that over 550 million birds now fall under the farm certification of the RDS. |

| Organic Cotton | | Organic cotton is a natural and biodegradable fibre, it benefits cotton producers and the environment by avoiding the harmful effects of toxic pesticides and fertilisers. |
| Ethical Wool/ Responsible Wool Standard | | There is no regulation but Ethical Wool refers to wool that has been produced with animal and environmental concerns addressed. For Wool this means three things: that sheep are not Mulesinged, a barbaric process where skin is removed painfully from a sheeps backside; Sheep are allowed to roam and live a full life; the land is looked after - intensive sheep farming can have an environmental impact, sheep grazing should be for shorter period allowing patches of land to recover. |
| Recycled Content | | Recycled content refers to the portion of materials used in a product that have been diverted from the solid waste stream. If those materials are diverted during the manufacturing process, they are be referred to as Pre-consumer recycled content. Post-consumer recycled material refers to everything we toss into the recycling bin, such as empty plastic bottles or aluminum cans. These materials are collected by local recycling programs and shipped to recycling facilities where they are sorted into bales based on material |
| Fair Trade Foundation | | Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. By requiring companies to pay sustainable prices, Fairtrade addresses the injustices of conventional trade, which traditionally discriminates against the poorest, weakest producers.
