Our Verdict
The Rab Downpour Trail Light 2.5L Jacket weighs just 217g in medium and feels purpose-built for trail running or minimalist mountain days. The Pertex Shield fabric handles wind and persistent rain well, offering decent breathability for a 2.5-layer shell. I liked the simplicity—a single chest pocket, a clean hem drawcord, and low-profile cuffs. That said, I preferred hook-and-loop closures over the extended elastic cuffs for better adjustability, especially in cold or wet transitions. The hem at the front sits noticeably high (in size large, it sits above the belt line), which may not suit everyone for pack coverage or layering.
Ideal for lightweight trail missions where reliable protection and a streamlined design take priority.
