An ideal addition for those using the Cinder Cone in buggy, humid environments.
SlingFin says:
The Cinder Cone Tub Floor pairs with your Cinder Cone to provide a clean and dry sleeping area for up to four people. Its full-width tub sidewalls protect against splashback and the floor can be rolled back halfway and toggled in place to provide sleeping space for two plus a generously sized gear storage area.
Our Verdict
A clever addition for warm-weather trips, the Cinder Cone 4 Mesh Body turns SlingFin’s single-wall pyramid into a roomy, bug-proof basecamp without much extra weight.
At 737g, it’s a practical and well-built insert that adds significant livability to the Cinder Cone 4. The no-see-um mesh keeps the bugs out while maintaining excellent airflow, and three drawstring vents align neatly with the fly for added circulation. The bathtub floor is made from 20D ripstop with an 1800mm waterproof rating—solid enough to keep ground damp at bay while staying light. The reinforced ALUULA peak is a nice touch, adding structure where the pole connects.
There’s enough room inside for four adults, though it would be even better for two or three with gear for long stays. I like the detail that you can toggle back the floor for cooking or wet kit storage in “half-floor” mode. Entry is easy thanks to a full-width door with a smooth-running Vislon #3 zip that doesn’t jam or snag.
