Our Verdict
MSR's Ceramic Solo Pot can hold up to 1.3 litres, but it is also the perfect size for also holding a gas canister and a PocketRocket or PocketRocket Deluxe. I would be careful doing this though and put some cloth between the canister and the pan or the ceramic layer will get scratched up and lose it’s non-stickiness.
The Ceramic coating is a welcome addition to camping pots as they do a great job of making clean-up a lot easier and you can get away with using a little less oil in the pan to stop things like eggs gluing themselves to the base of your pot. As with the rest of the MSR ceramic range it uses the detachable Talon handle which I think is brilliant.
The handle can be fully detached or it can be folded over the top, holding the lid in place, and if you have your fuel and stove in their it makes everything that little bit more secure. The handle uses heat treated plastic for where you will actually be holding it so your hands don’t get burnt and it is held in place with a ‘click’ when in use. To fold the handle away simply push in the red button and it comes free and can be folded over the top of the pan.
The lid has venting holes and an integrated strainer which is rather useful, you can also see if your water is boiling without opening it up.
Overall this is a really well sized and handy piece of camping cookware that is versatile enough to be used for some actual cooking, or just heating up your water when you are in a hurry.
