The Osprey Atmos AG LT is a well-engineered load-carrying rucksack with enough features to keep it user-friendly but stripped back enough to keep the weight reasonable.

Osprey says:

Less is more with the Atmos AG LT 50, delivering our extraordinary, ventilated and comfortable AntiGravity suspension in a more streamlined silhouette for technical backpackers. Even lighter than its original counterpart, LT delivers the same best-in-class carry while providing a thoughtfully simple, capable feature set, including an integrated raincover, side panel zip access, floating top lid, reinforced shove-it pocket and internal hydration sleeve. From weekend explorations to weeklong expeditions, Atmos AG LT 50 is up to task. Made with bluesign® approved, recycled main body fabrics and designed to pass the test of time, no matter where you take it.

Our Verdict

The Osprey Atmos AG LT is a brilliantly engineered rucksack that will suit those with a heavier kit list. This bag is overkill if you have a very lightweight set-up and keep your trail weight to a minimum. However, this is an exceptional load-Hauler if you have a heavier, more robust set-up. As this is from Osprey, you know you are getting a well-made bag with a suspended back system that is now interrogated into the hip belt. This is one of the most comfortable packs I have used. This bag has many customisation points to tailor this pack to your body shape.

The lightweight frame of the bag transfers the load incredibly well onto your hips, so your back and shoulders are doing little work with this pack. Osprey's famous mesh trampoline-like back panel helps circulate air and keeps your back sweat-free. I'm a big fan of the large, well-cushioned shoulder straps and the hip belt that hugs the body for a snug, supportive carry.

There is no dedicated trekking pole-carrying system, which will put some off. You could wrap your poles around the ice axe holders, but I find this inefficient. Another gripe is the two lower compression straps are located over the top of your water bottle pockets, so when fully compressed, it's hard, if not impossible, to quickly grab your water bottle, especially if you have the bag on.

The "brain" is removable if you want to shed a few grams. I'm also a big fan of the large front pocket, which I use to quickly access and store my wet weather gear. Another fantastic feature is the side zipp that provides quick access to the bag's main compartment without having to unbuckle the lid entirely.
