A 100% recycled backpack that spans the void between a day pack and an overnight pack. This bag has a lot of nice key features, a bag that will get as much use in the mountains as it will in your general day-to-day life. This is a rugged backpack that will last years.

For a couple of nights when moving from hut to hut or truly covering some ground, this 36-liter pack features a highly breathable back panel and shoulder straps, plus a frame that supports heavier loads, for going the distance in comfort. Made of rugged 100%

Our Verdict

I'm a real fan of this bag, not just because it's made from 100% recycled materials but because I can see this bag serving a lot of functions. It will be something you will be going back to year after year. It’s a brilliant day bag for your usual outdoor activities, but it’s also big enough to function as an overnight bag if you’re going lightweight or very minimalistic.

The outer of the bag is very rugged. The “boot”, the lower section of the bag, is made of impressively strong 210-denier rip-stop nylon. The upper shell of the bag is a 140-denier ripstop, so you can be very confident in this bag's ability to shrug off any hard-wearing abrasions, whether scrambling over rocks or bushwhacking through the woods. Both of these have been treated with a PFC-free DWR finish, so do a good job of shedding moderate to light rain. However, for when it really starts coming down, the bag has an integrated rain cover. For the super-ultralight lot, it's worth noting that the rain cover can’t be removed unless you’re willing to take a pair of scissors to the bag.

The Lid of the bag is integrated into the rest of the bag which means as you pull the draw cord to tighten it, the lid will close and it fastens with a clip that also works as a compression strap, this keeps everything nice and secure. It took me a little while to get used to this, but it's a really quick and convenient method to get in and out of the bag. The inner of the bag is one large space, a small zipped pocket at the top of the bag is good for any valuables or small items you need close to hand. The lid of the bag also has a traditional top pocket with a small key hook.

2 large mesh pockets on the sides of the bag are easy to access on the go and can store a surprising amount of gear. The large pocket on the front is very generous. At first I thought it was a bit of a misstep not to also be made of the same stretchy mesh however, the fact its made of the 210-denier ripstop mean anything in this pouch (let’s face it it’s always your water-proofs) are well protected. This pouch is closed with a simple clip, that can be cinched down.
