Our Verdict
At 618g, the Alpine Insulated Sleeping Mat is impressively light for a mat with an R-value of 6.0. The tapered shape—narrowing from 65cm at the shoulders to 47cm at the foot—helps save space without feeling cramped. The 6.5cm thickness provided enough cushioning to smooth out uneven ground. The down insulation and the infrared reflective layer added noticeable warmth without making the mat overly bulky when packed.
Inflation with the included pump sack was straightforward, but I needed to top it up with a few breaths to get it to my preferred firmness. I liked that it deflated easily and rolled away neatly without a struggle. The Toray Airtastic fabric felt durable yet soft enough that it wasn’t noisy when I shifted about during the night.
It’s a good fit for anyone looking to keep weight down while still getting a reliable night’s sleep in cold conditions.
