Black Diamond's 60mm baskets bridge the gap between the usual small size baskets you get with most trekking poles and the larger snow backets that are usually an optional extra. Useful for bouldery ground or very soft boggy terrain.
Black Diamond says:
60mm Trekking Basket for trekking or ski poles. Will not fit on most Z-poles except for the Distance Plus and Alpine series poles.
Our Verdict
Most trekking poles come with relatively small baskets (about 30mm), they are enough to stop the points sinking into soft ground or getting jammed in rocky cracks. On some terrain, such as crossing large boulders, or on very soft boggy ground, Black Diamond's 60mm Trekking Baskets (pair) mean you will get less sinking and jamming. Snow baskets are generally bigger again.
