The Featherlite Micro managed to handle it's fair share of light rain showers

I mainly used this jacket for evening wear, as an additional layer when it got too cold during the day and occasionally by itself to trek in.

There were several days in Iceland when it was too cold to trek in a thin jacket, so I would walk in this. It offers great wind protection and really keeps the cold away. At times it was a little too thin to wear by itself especially in the evenings, so another layer beneath was required.

Despite the fears of moisture everyone has when using down jackets the Featherlite Micro managed to handle it's fair share of light rain showers. The jacket is most effective when used in dry windy conditions. A waterproof shell is a must if using this jacket in wet conditions.

One problem I encountered was that the jacket ripped in 2 separate locations during the 5 weeks, which meant that a little of the down could come out, this was easily mended when I came home, but it was a frustration to encounter when trekking, so a bit of care is required when dealing with fabrics this lightweight.

The jacket could be tightened at the hem to prevent heat loss which was a great added feature. Overall it was a perfect jacket for cold conditions, but a thicker heavier jacket would be required when the temperature drops below 5°C, such as the Montane Black Ice 2.0 Down Jacket.
