The blade is a standard utility knife blade, and the unique blade clamp exposes nearly the entire blade length. This provides over 2-1/8 inches of usable cutting edge. The blade cover incorporates a firesteel rod which generates sparks that burn at 5,500 degrees to quickly and easily ignite tinder. The grip and blade cover are made from lightweight durable Nylon with a textured non slip surface for a sure grip in any conditions.

If, like me, your primary needs are occasional trail gear maintenance and slicing meats, cheeses, and fruits, this lightweight, sharp, compact blade is a practical choice. In essence, it's a carpet blade secured to a non-slip handle with a small fire steel embedded in it. This means you have the tools to start a fire even if you don't plan to (because you follow Leave No Trace principles, like a responsible camper) in an emergency survival situation.
