Montane Trail Gloves are lightweight, low-profile gloves that provide good warmth and windproof protection. They are not fully waterproof, but they do have a strong DWR finish. Good for trail running, low-level hikes, and some winter hill walking.
Montane says:
The perfect balance of warmth, packability and dexterity. These fully windproof and highly breathable non-waterproof GORE-TEX WINDSTOPPER® gloves with stretch technology utilise highly innovative 3D patterning technology to reduce
seams, improve fit and comfort, which makes the VIA Groove Glove ideal for use on trails in cold conditions.
Our Verdict
Montane's Trail Gloves are lightweight, low-profile gloves that provide a good level of warmth for a relatively thin glove. The Gore-Tex Infinium material makes the gloves a bit stiff, but I am confident this will loosen up with wear.
The Gore-Tex does an excellent job of blocking the wind and helps the gloves to repel snow, sleet, and rain. Although the gloves are not fully waterproof, they have a strong DWR finish. These gloves would be a good choice for trail runners, low-level hikes, and some winter hill walking. However, if I were going higher up the mountain, I would pair them with a waterproof shell or a more insulated glove.
The touchscreen functionality is adequate for navigating and taking photos, but the pads on the forefinger and thumb are relatively small, which makes it overly complicated.
