Torrid Mitts are lightweight, packable, oversized and comfortable synthetic insulated mitts that are best used around camp and in the tent on freezing evenings.

Built using our ultralight fabrics and continuous filament CLIMASHIELD™ APEX synthetic insulation, the Torrid Mitts boast packable warmth and great all-weather performance. It’s also easy to wash your synthetic mittens of dirt, sweat, and oil.
The mitten palm is constructed with durable 70D ripstop nylon, and the outer fabric is ultralight 20D ripstop nylon with a water repellent finish. The gauntlet cuff features a thin shock cord and cordlock to secure the Torrid Mitts on your hands and lock out cold wind and snow. When you’re not using them, the Torrid Mitts pack down small to fit just about anywhere in your pack.
Our Verdict
These mitts are incredibly lightweight and pack down small, thanks to their minimal feature set. They have a thin adjustable cord that can be cinched around the wrist to block out cold winds and snow, but that's all they need.
The Torrid Mitts are oversized and incredibly comfortable but not designed for hiking. They're best used around camp and in the tent on freezing evenings. However, they would be brilliant under a hard shell waterproof mitt in expedition conditions.
The mitts use synthetic insulation, keeping your hands warm even if wet. They're also much easier to care for than down mitts.
*Some reviews claim the mits have an “Optional Flip Tops for finger release”. These are for the Custom Torrid mitt, not these.
