It is inner pitched, which means you can leave the fly sheet off, if the conditions allow. Svalbard 1 is easy to pitch and quick to pack back down. The small pack size makes it the perfect trekking companion, and passing the magic 32,7 m/s it can even withstand a hurricane – if pegged properly, that is.
Our Verdict
The Nordisk Svalbard SI tent is a tough and sturdy little 1 man tent that's perfectly suited to solo backpacking expeditions where weight and performance are key. It has a cleverly thought out shape for the sleeping compartment that allows enough space for you and your kit, as well as a porch for extra storage and cooking. It's sit up height which is nice as not many lightweight one person tents are, which makes getting changed inside a little easier.
The Svalbard can endure winds of up to 40.0m/sec without breaking and has a hydrostatic head of 3000mm for the flysheet and 10000mm for the groundsheet. Its easy to pitch as it's pitched inner first with colour-coded alloy poles to thread through the sleeves. The outer is then clipped to the pegging points and ladder lock adjustment provided. The result is a very stable design.
