Our Verdict
The Inov8 Stormshell Pant is built around Pertex Shield 2.5-layer fabric, offering 20,000 mm waterproofing and matching breathability. At 127 g (Medium), it’s a minimalist waterproof over-trouser that packs down small enough for a race vest or mountain running pack. The cut allows a full range of movement without feeling restrictive, making it well-suited to high-output use in challenging weather.
The waterproofing is reliable in prolonged rain, and the trousers manage internal moisture well when working hard uphill. They’re quick to pull on, and the soft fabric is comfortable against the skin. The close fit keeps flapping to a minimum, though it can feel snug over bulkier trousers.
For runners, fast hikers or anyone who needs protection without bulk, the Stormshell Pant offers a well-judged balance of weatherproofing, mobility and packability.
