UOG TOP PICK - If you were a fan of the original Rush GTX’s but thought they needed additional protection, you are in luck. The New Rush Mid 2’s are a beefed up, burly walking boot that now utilises Scarpa's own Presa sole, a hardwearing and adaptable tread that grips well and helps to shed mud.. A top pick for a robust trail runner/approach shoe
Scarpa says:
A new dynamic and comfortable shoe to explore the trails, characterised by a strong SCARPA identity and designed for those who approach the mountains at a faster pace and require support and greater protection. Comfort and cushioning are ensured by the IKS technology, capable of progressively and specifically supporting the weight of the body during activity. The new anti-torsion system improves stability and heel containment, while the Gore-Tex membrane guarantees waterproof protection.
Our Verdict
The original Rush GTX’s combined a walking boot with a flexible trail runner; this is still the case, but the boot is now more supportive and durable. They have given up some flexibility but are still comfier and lighter than most “traditional” approach shoes.
Most of the upper boot has been constructed for a durable eco-mesh, and the lower of the boot is protected by a durable plastic film, with a tough rubber toe box to ensure the boot's longevity. This is all backed with a Gore-tex membrane that wraps around the gusseted tongue to ensure complete waterproofness.
The soul is made in-house at Scarper, performs well in wet and dry terrains, and mitigates impact.
