Our Verdict
The Mammut Runbold IV Pants offer excellent freedom of movement thanks to their four-way stretch and slim, active fit. At 209g in medium, they’re well-suited to warm-weather hikes where comfort and breathability are key. The hook-and-loop waist adjustment is a real highlight—it lets you fine-tune the fit without needing a belt, which is especially useful on longer trips where your waistline may fluctuate, though it can chafe a baselayer. The fabric dries quickly, wicks moisture well, and has enough structure to avoid that flimsy feel. Storage is generous and practical, with two side pockets, a thigh pocket, and one at the rear, all secured with low-profile zips.
They’re not built for foul weather but for dry trails and high ridge-top climbs; they perform confidently without getting in the way.
