The Rainshadow Bivi is light enough to be carried as an emergency shelter but the X-Tex fabric works really well for regular bivy adventures. Excellent levels of waterproofing and breathability.

This is a lightweight bivi bag, made completely from X-tex on both top and bottom. The design is identical to the Crux B1 Scout and Moonbeam, and is available in two sizes. The drawcord closure is made from Silnylon.
Our Verdict
Lightwave's Rainshadow Bivi is amazingly lightweight yet still provides a serious level of protection from the elements. Using the innovative X-Tex fabric the levels of waterproofing and breathability are impressive. Obviously a bag this light is going to have very few features and that's fine as the simple drawstring closure around the face works well in all but the heaviest and most persistent rain. The reality is that most of the time this bivi would be used with a tarp or some additional shelter anyway.
At just 272g this bag can be used as an emergency shelter but it performs really well for more regular, planned use. Simple and highly effective, this is a great bivi for fast and light adventures.
