The Puez 2 Mid Powertex has a progressive, aesthetic design that provides smooth roll-off and long-lasting comfort for versatile city use or wild mountain terrain. It has an abrasion-resistant mid-cut upper reinforced with an external toe cap and all-round protective rubber rand with a waterproof and breathable Powertex® membrane.
Long-lasting comfort
Its dedicated trekking last, dual EVA midsoles with graded stiffness and softer landing heel cushioning and recycled, soft, customizable CFF footbed work with the included Volume Reducer footbed to promote enhanced comfort and a customized fit.
Technical & progressive
The Puez 2 Mid Powertex has a Pomoca™ Alpine Trekker outsole for grip and traction in technical terrain. At the heart of its construction built into the insole, the new Salewa Edging Plate II, a special thermoplastic frame that runs the entire length of the boot offers a combination of enhanced flex and rebound for long-lasting hiking comfort with specific levels of stiffness and flex at the forefoot, and heel for targeted stiffness, plus increased stability. In addition, the proven Salewa 3F System with Kevlar® cables ensures a supportive fit at the ankle and wrapping midfoot stability. This is further enhanced by the climbing lacing that runs right down to the toe.
Sustainable manufacturing
This trekking boot bears the Salewa Committed icon and meets our strict criteria for additional sustainability and environmentally-friendly manufacturing. In addition, the covering on the recycled, customizable CFF footbed is made of recycled mesh and the waterproof, breathable membrane is PFC-free
Our Verdict
The Salewa Puez 2 Mid Powertex Boot blends mountain reliability with a modern fit and finish, designed for long days across mixed terrain.
Salewa, based in the Dolomites since the 1930s, is known for its structured, technical approach to footwear. The Puez 2 follows that tradition with a balanced feel and careful attention to detail. At 461g per boot (UK8), it offers solid support without feeling heavy. The 3F system effectively secures the heel and midfoot, while the mid-cut height provides reassuring ankle stability without locking the ankle in place.
The Puez 2 had a little surprise for me when I first opened the box: a set of volume-reducing insoles, a clever inclusion designed to reduce internal volume to create a more secure fit for smaller or lower-volume feet. They also work well in the transitional phase between winter and summer, when thicker socks are swapped for lighter ones.
The Pomoca outsole provides dependable traction on wet rock and loose trails, and the Edging Plate II gives a stable platform underfoot while maintaining smooth roll-off. The Powertex membrane has proven reliably waterproof, and the synthetic upper feels tough yet flexible.
Breathability is moderate, best suited to temperate conditions or mixed-season use. The understated colourway looks good on and off the hill, and the build quality feels reassuringly strong. Danny in the office took his pair up Mount Fuji and praised both comfort and grip on volcanic ash.
The Puez 2 Mid is a confident all-round trekking boot, stable enough for demanding terrain yet versatile for everyday mountain wear.
