ADJUSTABLE FIT - 6”/15 cm of torso length adjustment quickly and easily fits to a variety of body types while on the go.
AIRSCAPE SUSPENSION - Mesh-covered, extra deep ridged foam allows maximum ventilation and comfortable contact surfaces.
Our Verdict
Disclaimer: I haven't had the opportunity to test this carrier with a child, as I don’t have one myself.
The Osprey Poco SLT Child Carrier is a well-designed kit for those who enjoy exploring the outdoors with their little one in tow. While I haven't personally tested it with a child (I don't have one myself, and my requests to "borrow" one were unfortunately not fulfilled.) I can still appreciate the thought that has gone into making this carrier comfortable and functional for both parent and child.
Weighing in at just over 2 kilograms, the Poco SLT strikes a fine balance between being lightweight yet sturdy enough to carry up to 18 kilograms of child weight. The frame locks into place securely, providing a stable platform that inspires confidence.
Osprey has also prioritised comfort with their AirScape suspension system. The mesh-covered, ridged foam back panel offers good ventilation, which is crucial on longer hikes where overheating can become an issue. The adjustable torso length is a welcome feature, ensuring a custom fit for various body types, which is essential when carrying precious cargo over rough terrain.
While the sunshade is an optional accessory, its easy deployment from a dedicated zipped pocket is a thoughtful touch. It offers UPF 50 protection, which protects your child from the sun’s harsh rays.
Storage is ample, with zippered upper and lower compartments providing space for essentials. The hydration sleeve is another handy addition, allowing you to stay hydrated without stopping and rummaging through your pack.
One minor drawback is the initial setup and adjustment, which can be fiddly. However, once dialled in, the Poco SLT is a reliable and comfortable companion for family outings.
