The Pertex Shield Pro 2.5L fabric delivers a high level of performance at a very low weight, keeping out the elements so you can stride on in comfort. Long side zips allow you to easily and quickly put these on and take them off over shoes or boots as conditions demand. When you don’t need to wear them, they take up next to no space in your pack and won’t weigh you down.
Our Verdict
The Pacsmart 2.5L Overtrousers from Berghaus are a well-executed option for those prioritising simplicity, weight and performance. They're light and packable at 204g (Medium) without compromising function. The Pertex Shield Pro fabric delivers strong waterproofing with decent breathability and is well suited to high-output days in persistent rain.
The ¾-length side zips are properly thought out — easy to operate over boots, and with press studs at the hem that let you adjust ventilation without everything flapping about. The waistband sits comfortably and doesn’t bunch under a pack, and while there’s no pocket, that minimalism keeps things neat and streamlined.
