UOG TOP PICK - Lowick Gore-Tex Hat A lightweight, protective hat that utilises GORE-TEX lined softshell, backed with a super soft sherpa fleece lining. A warm hat that's comfortable to wear all day. One of our top picks
Trekmates says:
Warm GORE-TEX winter hat with sherpa fleece lining for waterproof, windproof and breathable protection.
Our Verdict
This is a brilliant mountain cap to use when the temperature plummets. My ears are always the first to feel the chill, so I appreciate the ear flaps and plush Sherpa fleece lining. When not in use, the ear flaps can be folded up and secured with simple snap fasteners. The whole hat can be cinched around your head to lock in warmth and secure it in the wind, but sadly, the ear flaps can't be tightened or held in place, so they are susceptible to the winds. There is a loop on each ear flap to attach a chin strap, which I would advise.
The Lowick hat utilises a Gore-Tex membrane, which makes the cap windproof and waterproof; this and its prominent stiff curved peak make this an excellent hat to use in the rain, snow and sleet, especially if, like me, you wear glasses.
