A lightweight geodesic, two-person backpacking tent with two ample vestibules. A tent that provides a generous amount of internal space for such a lightweight tent. This tent is an excellent option for anyone looking to be more adventurous with backpacking trips.
Sierra Designs says:
Live on the lighter side
Lightweight doesn’t mean light on comfort. Perfect for ambitious backcountry adventures, the Litehouse strikes the perfect balance between livable space and ultralight design. This incredibly strong freestanding 2 door, 2 vestibule tent is constructed with lightweight 15D Nylon and hub-less pole set for an incredibly small pack size. Two vertical walls increase livability, while the tapered footprint gives you room where you need it. When it’s time to pack up camp, the burrito bag makes packing up a breeze.
Our Verdict
When I first put theLitehouse up, I was instantly surprised by the size of the tent. The Litehouse 2P Tent comes in such a small pack size and is reasonably low weight; I wasn't expecting such a generous, liveable space. Consideration has been given to internal storage; there is an enormous overhead pocket and pockets at the foot end of the tent. There is a lot of headroom, and the ridgepole adds to the sense of internal space. It does taper in at the feet, which I'm not a fan of; you won’t be able to get a double mat or two wide mats in, for that matter, inside. Personally, I would use this tent solo, you can fit a tent buddy inside, but it would be a little snug, OK for one night away, but it's not a tent I would multi-day hike with if I was cohabiting.
It’s simple and intuitive to pitch, everything is colour coded, so it’s difficult to get wrong. Once pegged out, you can roll away the fly, opening up the inner tent; it's perfect for star gazing on a hot summer night or just appreciating the view.
I've always been a fan of their burrito bag, which also allows you to quickly put the tent away and pack it down small without being too neat when folding the tent away; in the case of the Litehouse, its small pole sections mean this could easily be a bike-packing tent.
