Our Verdict
The Kamleika Pants uses the new and improved Kamleika fabric with a more durable nylon outer which still maintains a soft, stretchy, and comfortable feel. It doesn't feel like traditional waterproof shell pants, in fact, the material doesn't feel waterproof at all. However, it is waterproof and works really well with an increased level of breathability in this version. The weight reduction is a bonus since the performance stats actually improve with this new version.
This is a well-designed piece of kit. They may not be ultralight compared to some of the more basic race pants but they are much more durable, have a number of excellent features, and will be able to cope with the harshest conditions you are likely to encounter on the hills and mountains. A further weight reduction in this model is a massive bonus since the adjustable waist, foot bungees, and durable Dyneema zip panels with lace hooks have all been kept.
