Our Verdict
Outdoor Research's Helium Rain Full Brim Hat is amazing given its paltry weight. Its a well trodden design with taped seam crown, absorbent headband and adjustable chin cord. It feels like it won't suffer too much if squashed in a pocket either, though I've never used one that was undamagable in this regard.
I like a chin cord because I can lock my rucksack chest strap through it when its a windy day meaning it can't be blown away.
It's claimed the diamond ripstop reduces abrasion damage and you can see how it would.
It's a great product for ultralight fanatics.
