The HA11 Head Torch runs from a single AA battery; it’s a lightweight and low-profile head torch with five light settings and an impressive beam distance.
Nitecore says:
The Nitecore HA11 headlamp has a maximum output of 240 lumens from the white LED and is powered by a single AA battery. The light utilises a unibody optical lens system with various facets, achieving excellent performance in a compact size.
The head torch features three white brightness levels, plus SOS and beacon mode. In addition, the HA11 has a red LED for map viewing, emergency response, stargazing, wildlife observation and night photography. The headlamp is operated by a dual switch interface; the power button turns the light on and off and the mode button cycles through the outputs.
Extremely lightweight, the HA11 comes with a braided, adjustable headband with reflective and glow-in-the-dark features. The lamp also includes a multi-purpose clip and 90º adjustable bracket so that you can attach and position the light as required.
Our Verdict
The HA11 Head Torch is a lightweight, low-profile head torch requiring only one simple, readily available AA battery. For a head torch that only uses one battery, the HA11 Head Torch has an impressive power output and a reasonable span of 5 light settings, a 240-lumen max output, a low 60 lumens setting and an ultra-low 6 lumens setting, the perfect setting to quickly find something in your tent.
This is the perfect head torch for a one or two-week trip, especially if you don't plan on doing much night hiking. It's going to be perfectly functional around camp and in the tent. Carrying an additional AA battery takes up very little room and virtually weighs nothing. This could be preferential to a rechargeable battery for some who do not wish to carry a charging cable or save power banks from charging a phone or GPS device.
The headtorch is stripped back and designed to be as light as possible. The simple cord headband can put some off, but I find these to be very comfortable. The bands can spread over a larger surface area of your head; they can also be more secure. The sizing of this headband can be adjusted with a clip at the rear of the head.
The HA11 Head Torch can be removed from the headband and can then be clipped onto a cap or rucksack shoulder strap. It can also be clipped onto the back of a rucksack, which is an excellent safety feature if you are forced to walk down a road at night.
