Our Verdict
Petzl's Glacier Literide Ice Axe is a great all-rounder if you're heading into the mountains. With an ultralight classification on this axe it's surprisingly versatile. The 50cm length lends itself well to the approach walk as well as being easy to store when not in use.
The design is well though out and practical which is exactly what you need. It is easy to drive into snow and ice and gives you a lot of different options in regards to climbing, anchoring and chopping with a well made pick and adze. The spike provides an additional feature that many other axes of this weight or price point don't. The simple but highly effective notches on the shaft provide a good amount of extra grip.
